Tahitian Princess
10 day Polynesian and Cook Islands
If you love tropical surroundings then the 10 Day Polynesisian and Cook Islands cruise on the Tahitian Princess is a must do cruise for you!
 If you are flying from the eastern USA, the most difficult part of this cruise is the long flight to Papeete, Tahiti. We arrived about 10:30 pm to pouring rain and 100% humidity but a Princess bus was waiting to take us directly to the ship where check-in was fast and well-coordinated. In no time at all, we were in our cabins ready for a good night's sleep before starting our adventure.
Our first stop was Papeete, Tahiti. Tahiti is also known as the Island Of Love. Our day was highlighted by a trip to famous author of Mutiny on the Bounty, James Norman Hall’s home and gardens. The world famous Arolo Blowhole was also interesting.
Our next port of call was Huahine, French Polynesia. It is known as The Garden Island. Our guide was a young native woman in an open-back pick-up truck. The ride in the back of the pick-up and her informative stories made for a great day. We also took a small boat to a pearl farm where we stopped and fed blue-eyed freshwater eels (which are considered sacred by locals.)
Our stop at Rarotonga was cancelled due to rough seas. This gave everyone a chance to enjoy the amenities onboard our Princess ship. Popular Rarotonga activities include snorkeling, scuba diving, bike riding, horse back riding, hiking, deep-sea fishing, boat tours, scenic flights, restaurants, dancing, and island shows.
Our next stop was Raiatea. It is the second largest of the French Polynesian Islands. It is a lush tropical island where we were able to discover the tranquility and beauty of nature, volcanic craters and the Faaroa river.
Bora Bora, French Polysenia is home to the famous Bloody Mary’s where the tables, chairs and everything wooden is made from coconut trees and the floor is sand. This is a "must see." Boras Bora is also where I had one of the most exciting water adventures I have ever experienced - the Aqua Safari. Once we were fitted with our helmets, we were able to walk on the bottom of a lagoon and feed the colorful tropical fish by hand! No previous diving experience is needed. Be sure to have an underwater camera with you because the view is spectacular.
Our last port of call was Moorea, French Polynesia. Moorea, called Tahiti’s Little Sister, has become a hot spot of tourism in Polynesia. The views in this tropical island and lagoon are breathtaking with waterfalls, volcanic peaks, emerald bays and beautiful flora and fauna. The Tiki Theater Village a favorite of many from our ship and a great way to end our tropical vacation.
